Shortly after the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Alexander Hamilton wrote that he was convinced that "without the finger of God, [the Constitution] never could have been suggested and agreed upon by such a diversity of interests." [1]

Benjamin Franklin, who is routinely considered a deist, made the claim in Independence Hall that same year, "I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth that God Governs in the affairs of men."
[2]

Further, Thomas Jefferson ushered in his presidency, one where he regularly attended church services at the U.S. Capitol, by saying in his Inaugural Address: "may that Infinite Power which rules the destinies of the universe, lead our concils to what is best."
[3]

So was it possible that our nation came into existence in a manner far beyond the simple fact that some of the most talented, courageous, and indespensible men congregated conveniently at the right place and time?

Could it really be that nearly all of our modern schooling and subsequent understanding about our national heritage is very wrong and it could be doing all of us a disservice?

Is it possible that in even the earliest and most humble beginnings of our nation there was an unflinching reverence to God Almighty among most of the people in authority and even a willingness by the common folk to corporately relish such principles and that if we return to them we will be better off?

Those of us at Restoring Our Heritage are intent on finding these answers and we hope that you will join with us to better understand that 'firm reliance on Divine Providence' which our nation's humble father figure, George Washington himself, so often spoke of.

Examining Our Current Conditions

Are you wrestling with such concepts as 'separation of church and state' and whether what is commonly held by judges and educators is the proper interpretation of Thomas Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists in 1803? Do you routinely hear about local Ten Commandments, nativity, or Christmas Tree displays being threatened in your local community and wonder if that's the type of country our Founding Fathers sacrificed their 'lives, fortunes, and sacred honor' for?

Are you amazed at the continued downward spiral our nation has been taking culturally and socially, including:
• rampant and public financed abortion on demand
• skyrocketing rates of teen pregnancy and out-of-wedlock births
• staggering levels of unemployment and government dependency
• seemingly endless wars abroad while bridges crumble here at home
• the continued diminishing of people's liberties in favor of 'security'
• and more?

If you answered yes to any of these examples, and hopefully most, you've come to the right place. We at Restoring Our Heritage are seeking to educate our fellow Americans so that we can work together to reverse this continued downward spiral.

Over the last decade since our founding in 2001, we have held many educational events featuring such voices on these topics as the late Rev. Peter Marshall, Bill Federer, Herb Titus, Larry Pratt, David Gibbs, Chad Connelly, and more.

It will take a so we can be successful at restoring our providencial heritage in the hearts and minds of our fellow countrymen. It's our next step to once again being a nation clearly blessed by God.

Videos about our Christian heritage:

Examples of our Christian heritage:

• All 50 State Constitutions acknowledge and praise Almighty God in their preambles.

• In 1755 during the French and Indian War, 23 year-old George Washington escaped a battle near Braddock's Road unharmed despite taking 8 bullets through his coat and hat as well as losing 4 horses underneath him. Washington said of the encounter, "By the all powerful dispensations of Providence, I have been protected beyond all human probability or expectation." More than a decade later, an old Indian Chief that had been at the battle fighting for the other side told Washington, "I have traveled a long and weary path that I might see the young warrior of the great battle....I am come to pay homage to the man who is the particular favorite of Heaven, and who can never die in battle."

• Thomas Jefferson, two days after writing the letter to the Danbury Baptists in 1802 with his much-debated statement about the 'separation of church and state', attended Christian church services in the U.S. Capitol.

• The Liberty Bell inscription which says to "proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants" is actually from Leviticus 25:10 in the Bible.
